History Of Skinny Jeans

Skinny jeans are HOT! and you can see them everywhere you look and turn. Can't help asking yourself...

Skinny jeans are HOT! and you can see them everywhere you look and turn. Can't help asking yourself where did they come from and how come they became so popular nowadays. The style of skinny jeans originated in the 1950, when Jeans came to symbolize passionate youth and rebellion. Popular sex symbols of the day including Marlon Brando, James Dean, Lone Ranger, Cisco Kid, Gene Autry and Zorro wore their jeans slim and straight. Most women during the 1950’s didn’t wear jeans.

However, celebrities such as Sandra Dee, Audrey Hepburn, and Marilyn Monroe wore their jeans very slim to the ankle. Skinny jeans were also very popular among rock bands such as The Rolling Stones, the The Beatles and others. By the 1960’s skinny jeans were the uniform. One decade later, the punk movement was starting to break through and many scene leaders and bands such as The Ramones, The Sex Pistols and The Clash would wear this type of jean.

The 80's fashion is where skinny jeans really made their mark. Just think of most heavy metal bands including Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax and Metallica. The style lasted well into the 1990’s. Even if they seemed to have gone out of favour for a while, they remained popular on the music scene. Many bands decided to ditch the spandex and wore the form fitted jean.

Nowadays, denim is everywhere and skinny jeans have become more popular then ever.

What To Wear With Skinny Jeans

Skinny jeans, slimjims, cigarette pants, carrot leg pants, drainpipes, pencil pants, skinny...

Skinny jeans, slimjims, cigarette pants, carrot leg pants, drainpipes, pencil pants, skinny pants, peg leg pants, tapered pants, ice-cream cone pants or old-school hood jeans - whatever you may call it, these jeans are hot and they are here to stay. Problem is, everybody wants to own at least one pair, but unfortunately we don't always know what to wear with them.

If you are the curvy type you should probably team up your pair of jeans with tops that are long enough to cover any problem areas you don't like to show. Chunky boots are the best bet. Skinny jeans tucked into long-boots provide a really “edgy” feel. They will enhance your height and make your legs look slimmer. There's also the flare and the elegant-boot cut which flatters the bottom and lengthens the leg. You can also pull off the skinny look by wearing jersey tops, tunic tops, or even a chunky cardigan sweater. Another option will be a super dress such as empire, smocked, wrap, baby doll or shirt-dresses.

However, if you are rather slim and tall, you can wear whatever you want with skinny jeans. It all depends on your style. Your options are endless. More than that, it doesn't matter what you wear, but how you flaunt it. Confidence will help you turn any head. It's now time to squeeze into your own pair of skinny jeans!

How Should One Wear Skinny Jeans

Skinny jeans are probably at the peak of popularity right now. Unfortunately, skinny-leg jeans are...

Skinny jeans are probably at the peak of popularity right now. Unfortunately, skinny-leg jeans are not for everyone. It's much of a no-flaws-allowed trend that many women don't manage to pull off. Skinny jeans will definitely look great on celebrities and models with stick-thin legs , but can the next-door woman pull off this hot look? The answer is yes but only if you follow a few tips. A lot depends on your body shape, still many women can carry off this style and make it look fabulous!

Balance skinny jeans with volume on top such as tunics, bell-sleeve tops or dolman-sleeve tops . Remember that dark washed skinny jeans are the most popular and look the best.

Slim-fitting stretchy jeans will look great tucked into your boots. The combination is to-die for! You can also pull off a pair of skinny jeans, pairing it with high heels for a leg-lengthening look. This is a great look especially for women with shorter legs and the effect can be very slimming.

Flats will work as well, for a more casual vibe! Especially if you are tall and thin! Be careful though, flats tend to exaggerate the butt and hips and make you look heavy. Last but no least, if skinny jeans just aren't your thing, there are plenty of other options. Be sure to avoid trying to pull out a look that doesn't make you feel beautiful and comfortable.

Skinny Jeans On Men

Skinny jeans are it! Flattering boot cut jeans have totally been replaced by slim cuts, à la '80s...

Skinny jeans are it! Flattering boot cut jeans have totally been replaced by slim cuts, à la '80s punk rock. Most designers, fashion forecasters and trend-setters agree that today, skinny jeans is still the trendiest. It has been already established as common knowledge that chicks look hot in it! Well, probably not the very curvy ones. The question is, is it ok for male species to wear skinny jeans?

During the 60s, skinny jeans were mainly the domain of rock n roll's trendiest men such as Mick Jagger. The late 70's brought punk in the spotlight and punk bands such as The Clash, The Stooges, The Ramones and The Sex Pistols immediately adopted the runaway style.

However, men's jeans scene has been very much dominated by the pants-exposing hip-hop/skating boy, low-slung look. Skinny jeans are mostly considered the antithesis of that. There are indeed a large number of hip waif-like indie men who can pull off this look. However, the truth is that skinny denim is probably not for everyone. First of all it will definitely not work if you are on the plumper side. If you are toned or thin chances are you will manage to carry off the style especially if you pair it with a slim shirt and finish off with a pair of converse to add an extra indie touch. Your look will radiate Rock'n Roll!

Skinny Jeans - Ups and Downs

Fashion designers and common people as well dedicated a lot of time to deciding whether or not they...

Fashion designers and common people as well dedicated a lot of time to deciding whether or not they should wear skinny jeans. At some point, they have all agreed that skinny jeans are the trendiest for men and women as well.

Most men think that wearing skinnies makes them look gay. Others, the most adventurous ones, say that wearing skinny jeans help them define their long, toned legs and provide emphasis to the size of their package. Bottom line, they tend to look ridiculous on men who are not the lead singer of a rock n roll band or something like that.
Risky challenge but it's probably worth trying!

Another disadvantage lies in the fact that it is terribly hard to find your fit. Skinnies aficionados must be prepared to try a bunch on until the perfect fit comes by. Just be sure to avoid jeans that are so tight you can't even move or breath! One size larger is fully recommended!

Skinny jeans can look fabulous indeed on a tall and slim figure. However, chances are that they will make a curvy woman look like a duck. Especially if she teams them up with ballet flats. And yes, they can make a girl's bottom look about three feet lower than it actually is.

Skinny jeans are trendy only if they actually work for you and your body. If not, you must shed no tears, there are plenty of other jeans in the sea!
